Now That You Have Chosen God, Your Life Will Change

Your journey with God is just beginning, and it will be both exciting and challenging. Though it may feel overwhelming at times, your life will become deeply meaningful and beautiful. Embrace it with joy!

Important!

As soon as possible, be baptized by immersion in water and ask God to fill you with His Holy Spirit.

Growing in Faith

Repent of your sins and strive to sin no more. While we all stumble, you must have the desire and commitment to turn away from sin. Ask God for the strength to help you walk in righteousness. Growth is a process, and He will guide you.
Ask God daily to increase your love and faith in Him.
Die to yourself daily. This is a lifelong process—don’t live for yourself anymore, but do everything out of love for God and your neighbor. Simply doing good deeds is not enough; God looks at your heart and intentions (1 Corinthians 13:2):
“If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.”

Developing Your Relationship with God

Read the Bible daily and take time to sit quietly in His presence. Beginning your day with God is highly recommended.
Pray continuously. This doesn’t mean closing your eyes and folding your hands all day. Rather, talk to God throughout your day, involving Him in everything you do.
When problems arise, fix your eyes on Jesus the moment you realize you are getting distracted.
Be thankful in everything. Gratitude keeps your heart aligned with God.

Spiritual Growth & Discernment

You will notice yourself growing in faith and drawing closer to God. Your relationship with Him will become more real, and you will begin to experience His overwhelming love. God will teach you things and give you wisdom.
1 Thessalonians 5:21 reminds us: “Examine everything.”
Jesus also warned in Matthew 24:4: “Beware lest anyone deceive you.”
Not everything supernatural comes from God. The enemy also has a voice. If you feel doubt, wait and seek confirmation from God.

Walking in the Spirit

Ask God for guidance in everything you do. Always pray to God the Father, and bring your requests in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Over time, your prayers will grow in authority, and you will begin to see God move—so long as your prayers align with His will.
Worship and praise Him as much as possible. This brings joy to God and is a key to breakthrough in difficult situations.
If you have received the Holy Spirit, allow Him to lead you. Read Romans 8 to understand how to walk by the Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is not just a vague force—He is a person. He is God. Read Ephesians 4:30 and 1 Corinthians 3:16 to learn more.

Finding Christian Community

I strongly encourage you to find a local Pentecostal or Charismatic church where you can connect with other believers, encourage one another, and build meaningful friendships. This will open up a whole new world of spiritual growth for you.

Baptism will always take place in consultation with you in a local church, usually on a Sunday.
The real baptism is not a sprinkling with a little water but you are completely immersed in a bath.
After baptism, hands are laid on so that the Holy Spirit of God comes upon you.
Some churches allow you to share your testimony publicly if you wish.
Bring friends and family if you like. It is a unique event that is nice to share with others. Your baptism can also encourage others to choose Jesus.
Bring an extra set of dry clothes.

Connect with local Christians

Do you need to make contact with other people who have also chosen God?

You are now part of the body of Christ. It is advisable to plant yourself somewhere. There are people who can meet your needs, both spiritual and natural. Conversely, you can also help many other people with your life story and talents. This is possible in a local church. It may be exciting and awkward at first, but it will be an enormous enrichment in your life. You will build friends that last forever.

For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
